Washington’s top education official, Chris Reykdal, and state Attorney General Nick Brown are clutching their progressive pearls over an attempt to ban transgender female athletes—biological males—from competing against biological females. They call it discriminatory. Reykdal even went so far as to say it’s “inaccurate” to claim there are only two genders. That’s not just fringe—it’s detached from reality. But there’s a glaring, fatal flaw in the Radical Left’s logic when it comes to transgender athletes in sports.

School districts across the state forwarded two amendments to the Washington Interscholastic Athletics Association (WIAA). The WIAA oversees youth sports competitions. One would separate athletic competitions by gender, and the other would create a third league for any gender. It was the exact reasonable compromise that could allow transgender players to compete against others in a way that’s fair because the young girls would be able to volunteer to go up against a biological boy. But Brown and Reykdal insist it’s discrimination, so the WIAA will not abide by the results if schools agree with the amendments.

If biology doesn’t matter in athletic competition, why have separate leagues for boys and girls at all? Why not just throw everyone into one pool and see who comes out on top? According to left-wing ideology, gender is just a state of mind—so boys who identify as boys should be able to compete against girls, no questions asked. To bar them would be gender-based discrimination, right? Isn’t that what progressives rail against?

What would the Left’s argument be against boys competing against girls?

The vast majority of Americans—those who passed high school biology—understand that male athletes have a physiological advantage over female athletes. Democrats pretend this doesn’t exist. Instead, they demand we judge athletes based on identity, not anatomy.

But here’s the catch: if gender is just a social construct, assigned at birth and therefore meaningless unless someone later decides to reject it, then even a cisgender boy—one who identifies with his birth sex—is simply making an identity choice like anyone else. And under the left’s own doctrine, that identity deserves equal protection.

So now we’re left asking: why can’t a boy, who proudly identifies as a boy, compete against girls if he says he feels like that’s fair? The left’s ideology collapses under the weight of its own contradictions. It can’t be about safety or fairness—those arguments require acknowledging biological reality, which they’ve already thrown out the window.

Pick a lane, gender extremists

Either gender is real and based in biology—which justifies sex-separated sports—or it’s fluid and irrelevant. But if it’s irrelevant, then the very existence of girls’ and boys’ leagues is discriminatory under their logic.

The Radical Left wants it both ways: biology when it suits them, fantasy when it doesn’t. But you can’t have a coherent policy based on incoherence.

Either we acknowledge the biological differences that justify separate sports divisions, or we admit this entire charade is less about inclusion and more about erasing women’s sports entirely in the name of virtue-signaling ideology.
