Rantz: Meet the Sheriff vowing to help ICE, tells border czar ‘Tom Homan … put me on speed dial’

Klickitat County Sheriff Bob Songer said he’s willing to suffer the consequences of violating the state’s sanctuary law if it means helping Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) remove a dangerous illegal immigrant from our streets.

“If I had an opportunity to talk to (border czar) Tom Homan, I’d tell him, ‘Put me on speed dial. You call me. We’ll be there to assist ICE in a New York second.’ Because by doing that, we’re protecting the citizens of our county,” Songer explained on “The Jason Rantz Show” on KTTH.

Songer isn’t just willing to go to jail for violating Washington’s sanctuary law. He’s also calling on the Trump administration to investigate the state of Washington for helping illegal immigrants evade detection.

“I’m willing to stand up against an unconstitutional state law, and I will help ICE,” Songer said.

Sheriff Songer hopes others resist, too

Though ICE has targeted criminal illegal immigrants — those who have committed crimes in addition to being in the country illegally — Washington Democrats have portrayed the raids as targeting otherwise law-abiding immigrants. They’ve used that narrative to shame people like Sheriff Bob Songer away from embracing ICE raids.

“I’m not telling the sheriffs what to do. It’s an individual thing, whether it’s the sheriff or police chief. But they need to stand up, in my opinion, and fight this woke nonsense. They’re looking at socialism, Marxism. That’s the push coming for the far left, and they bury us with this kind of nonsense, allowing illegals to run around our state committing crimes, or have committed crimes in the past,” Songer explained.

The sheriff added illegal immigration wouldn’t have become such a problem had the Biden administration done its job at the border. But, he said, they “totally gave up” on border enforcement.
