Even in Seattle, young male voters are turning to Republicans, Trump

Aug 6, 2025, 5:07 AM

It’s no secret that young men have been gravitating towards the GOP in recent years, and there are signs this trend might be taking hold in Seattle as well—albeit slowly.

According to new data released from Nielsen and highlighted by Gene Balk, 42% of Seattle men aged 18-34 identified as or leaned Democrat in 2020 and 21% identified as or leaned Republican. In 2025, there was a slight shift to the right with those numbers coming in at 41% and 23% respectively.

While this may not seem like a drastic change, it is striking when you compare young men to their female counterparts in Seattle. In 2020, 44% of young women in Seattle identified as or leaned Democrat and 22.5% identified as or leaned Republican.

The new data tells a much different story. The number of young women in Seattle that identify as or lean Democrat has skyrocketed to 56%, while the number that identifies as or leans Republican has plummeted to 13%.

Why the shifts?

What could possibly explain such a large chasm in such a short period of time?

Many young men do not subscribe to the radical feminism that has been perpetuated by the Left for years, nor do they appreciate being called “toxic” for simply acting like men.

There may also be a great deal of fatigue from the onslaught of LGBT content that has infiltrated the popular culture. Gene Balk of The Seattle Times also posits that college enrollment could play a role in the gender divide.

“Young women are now more likely to attend college than young men, and many colleges tend to be left-leaning environments,” says Balk.

If Democrats want to stop bleeding support amongst young men, a good place to start would be ending the anti-male rhetoric.
