Rantz: Radical Leftists escalate attacks on democracy as popular conservative initiatives gain ground

Let’s Go Washington (LGW) signature gatherers are under attack across the state, facing harassment, threats, and theft from radical left-wing activists who claim to defend “democracy” while actively working to silence it. And one can see why the radicals have become so desperate. A new poll shows the initiatives gaining ground.

LGW is currently pushing two initiatives: one to restore parental rights, and another to protect the integrity of girls’ sports by ensuring biological males cannot compete against female athletes.

According to a new survey for Fortitude, for LGW, nearly 70% of Washingtonians support both initiatives. Awareness is especially strong around girls’ sports, with more than 80% of voters familiar with the issue. The polling focused on the legislative swing districts 5 and 26. And these aren’t fringe causes—over half of voters say they would not support a candidate who disagrees with them on either initiative.

That makes the intimidation campaign even more alarming.

Leftists targeting signature gatherers

Reports detail petitions stolen, signatures vandalized, and workers directly threatened. In Vancouver, a Fred Meyer manager allegedly blocked signature gatherers with shopping carts. In Tacoma, a vandal scribbled over completed petition sheets before an accomplice threatened to “beat” the signature gatherer. And in one brazen act, a thief ran off with up to 160 voter signatures.

“This one violates federal, state, and ethical laws all over the place,” LGW’s Brian Heywood told The Jason Rantz Show on Seattle Red 770 AM. “They don’t even want it on the ballot. They’ll try to erase it before voters ever get a chance to weigh in.”

Democracy under assault

The damage extends beyond intimidation of workers. When activists destroy petitions, they are effectively silencing the voices of citizens who have already signed. Worse, stolen petitions put voter information into the hands of people who openly despise them.

The Left insists it is fighting for democracy, yet when confronted with overwhelming public support for parental rights and girls’ sports, its activists resort to vandalism and threats. This isn’t democracy—it’s suppression. Washingtonians should be outraged.

Because the real threat to democracy isn’t coming from conservative volunteers gathering signatures in front of grocery stores. It’s coming from the activists trying to stop you from ever having a say.
