U.S. border czar Tom Homan quietly slipped into Seattle and Tacoma this week, meeting with ICE and CBP officers as the fight over sanctuary city policies escalates.
Homan revealed the trip Thursday in a social media post, blasting sanctuary cities as “only sanctuaries for criminals.” He condemned state and local efforts to shield illegal immigrants, calling them “abhorrent” and a direct threat to public safety.
The visit comes just days after U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi threatened legal action against Governor Bob Ferguson for refusing to roll back Washington’s sanctuary policies. Ferguson doubled down, claiming the policies are lawful and sneering at the warnings. “I am not intimidated by Pam Bondi or the president,” he said.
Homan previously dismissed that bravado.
Speaking on The Jason Rantz Show on Seattle Red 770 AM, he vowed the Trump administration would not “negligently ignore the laws that Congress has enacted.” He pledged more resources to ICE and CBP, promising agents that”the president has your back… and we’ll send whatever resources we need.”
Homan also warned that any intimidation, violence, or interference with federal officers would result in arrest and prosecution. “You cross that line, and you will be arrested and prosecuted under the Trump Administration. We have already seen a record number of prosecutions.”
This week’s stops in Seattle, Tacoma, Portland, and San Diego underscore the administration’s message that sanctuary cities are in the crosshairs, and Washington’s refusal to cooperate is drawing national attention.
