In Portland, where lawlessness has become routine, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) says four criminal illegal aliens were arrested after allegedly aiming a laser pointer at a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) helicopter. The laser strikes were intended to temporarily blind the pilot, a federal crime that could have ended in tragedy, according to ICE.

ICE revealed to The Jason Rantz Show on Seattle Red 770 AM that investigators tracked the source of the laser to a Portland residence. After executing a search warrant with the FBI and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), agents found four illegal aliens inside. Federal officials say they also acquired the laser they say was used.

“These four illegal aliens endangered the lives of our CBP personnel, the safety of every other aircraft in flight during the time AND put everyone on the ground in immediate danger,” Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement to The Jason Rantz Show on Seattle Red 770 AM. “DHS law enforcement is facing a 1,000% increase in attacks against them. This strike happened just days after the terrorist attack on an ICE facility in Dallas and as rioters were arrested with guns outside a Broadview, Illinois, ICE facility with weapons. Secretary Noem has been clear: if you lay a hand on law enforcement you will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

Who are the suspects?

ICE identified the suspects as follows:

Diogenes Albores-Suchiapa, from Mexico. ICE says he was previously arrested for unlawful possession of methamphetamine and criminal trespass in Gresham, Oregon. He’s also been arrested by CBP three times for immigration violations.

Andres Brian Lopez-Labra, from Mexico. According to ICE, he was previously arrested by CBP for unlawful entry and most recently by Oregon State Police for DUI.

Benito Zamora-Alvarez, from Mexico. ICE says he admitted he’s been in the country illegally since 1994.

Hector Miranda Mendoza, from Mexico. He does not appear to have a criminal history beyond being in this country unlawfully, according to ICE.

The bigger picture

This isn’t just about one dangerous stunt. It’s about a pattern.

ICE says DHS has seen a 1,000% surge in attacks against law enforcement. While Democrats in Portland and Salem look the other way, these incidents keep piling up. Federal officers are being targeted, and illegal aliens with criminal pasts are too often at the center of the chaos. It is precisely why President Donald Trump has authorized 200 National Guard troops to help defend the downtown Portland ICE facility.

It’s a stark reminder: open-borders policies and sanctuary city politics put Americans in danger.
