A 42-year-old Seattle man with a long criminal history will spend more than four years in federal prison after police say they found him passed out behind the wheel of a crashed car with a loaded gun in his jacket.
Kenan Dejuan Brown was sentenced to 54 months in U.S. District Court after pleading guilty to unlawful possession of a firearm. He was arrested on October 20, 2023, when Seattle Police responded to a crash and discovered a Glock 19 with an extended magazine and a round chambered in his pocket.
“According to records filed in the case, Seattle Police officers responded after a 9-1-1 call reporting a car had left the roadway and hit a tree. Brown was behind the wheel of the car. He initially tried to speak with officers and then lost consciousness. Officers noticed the handle of a gun sticking out of Brown’s pocket,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office for Western Washington stated in a press release.
Brown has multiple prior convictions in King and Kitsap counties for domestic violence, court order violations, and firearms offenses. He also has a previous federal conviction for being a felon in possession of a firearm. He will also serve three years of supervised release and undergo drug and alcohol treatment.
