Rantz: Monster mom, accused of raping her toddler on camera for money, released by judge

A Pierce County judge ordered the release of a mother without bail, despite accusations that she filmed herself sexually assaulting her two-year-old son for profit.

Trinity Carrell, a 22-year-old Edgewood resident, was charged in Pierce County Superior Court with rape of a child in the first degree, promoting commercial sexual abuse of a minor, and animal cruelty in the first degree.

Police said Carrell used Snapchat to send sexually explicit videos to a man for payment, which included sexually explicit video of her young son for what she thought would be $50,000 payment. She said the Snapchat user asked for a video of her changing her son’s diaper, while “fondling” him.

Shocking allegations against the mother

According to a probable cause document, “Trinity admitted to me that she had sent a video of changing her son’s diaper as well as making the video appear as if she was fondling her son’s p*nis” to the Snapchat user and she “said she had made it look as if she fondled him by taking her index finger and middle finger together and moving his p*nis once in each direction, ‘as if checking for a lump for a doctor.'” She allegedly explained, according to the document, that she angled the camera to “look as if more was happening.”

Instead of receiving the payment, police say she claimed the Snapchat user “blackmailed” her, asking “for additional videos of sexual acts with her son, which she denied.” After refusing, she told police that the Snapchat user “threatened to turn in the other personal videos of her that she had sent using the bathroom and go to law enforcement with the video she had just made of [her son].”

After serving a search warrant to find additional evidence, police said they discovered three images of Carrell and a child, who they say is her son. The incident report alleges the images show Carrell performing oral sex on her child.

Police say they discovered several other videos Carrell recorded, including one where a dog licked peanut butter off of her nipple.

No bail for the mother?

The Pierce County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office requested $500,000 bail for Carrell. But Commissioner Pro Tem Meagan Foley released the suspect on her own personal recognizance.

Under Washington State Code of Judicial Conduct Rule 2.10, judges and commissioners are precluded from offering specific comments on pending cases. But a spokesperson for Pierce County Superior Court explained to The Jason Rantz Show on Seattle Red 770 AM that “individualized determinations” like this are “made based on the specific facts presented at the time of arraignment, including criminal history, risk assessments, and statutory guidelines.”

The spokesperson then cited Washington Criminal Rule (CrR) 3.2, which details how judges may determine appropriate conditions to release, which:

…establishes a presumption that individuals charged with noncapital offenses should be released on personal recognizance unless the court finds that such release would pose a substantial risk of:

1. Failure to appear for future court dates

2. Danger to others or the community

3. Interference with the administration of justice

The court ordered Carrell to cease all contact with her son or any minor children. She must also stay away from school grounds or playgrounds. It’s not clear where the child is currently residing. Court documents show the victim was initially with his paternal grandmother, but the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office, which initially handled the investigation, stated they informed child protective services of the allegations against the mother.
